1. Official payment-provider MCP servers
Rank official provider servers first when they exist. They are maintained closest to the source, understand provider-specific objects, and can support workflows a normalized analytics layer should not imitate. Stripe, RevenueCat, and Chargebee currently document official MCP offerings; check each provider's current documentation before connecting.
The tradeoff appears at portfolio scale. Not every provider offers MCP, capabilities differ, and an agent may need separate OAuth grants and reasoning for every schema. Powerful write tools also deserve stricter approval than a reporting workflow.
2. VerifiedMRR MCP
Rank VerifiedMRR second overall and first for unified read-only portfolio analysis. It gives the agent a consistent definition of project revenue, time series, normalized events, and sync health across data already connected to the workspace.
VerifiedMRR is intentionally narrower than provider MCPs. It does not refund charges, edit subscriptions, inspect customers, or replace provider support. That narrowness is an advantage for unattended reports, product comparisons, and founder agents that should see the numbers without being able to move money.
3. A custom warehouse MCP
A custom warehouse server ranks third for organizations with mature data engineering. It can join revenue to acquisition cost, usage, support, and forecasts in a proprietary model.
It also creates the largest security and maintenance burden: access policies, query safety, semantic definitions, OAuth, hosting, monitoring, and schema changes all become your responsibility.
The useful answer is often both #1 and #2
Connect an official provider MCP for deep operational work and VerifiedMRR for cross-project reporting. Tell the agent which source owns each question: provider-native tools for payment operations; VerifiedMRR for normalized comparisons and trend narratives.
Keep the portfolio server read-only, leave approvals on for provider tools with side effects, and ask the agent to state which source produced every conclusion.
